Terms

Accounts are by invitation. If your address has not been invited, sign-up will refuse — that is deliberate, not a fault. You need to be old enough to buy wine where you live.

What you put in stays yours. Nothing in it is sold, mined or used to train anything, and Settings → Your data hands the whole cellar back as a file whenever you want it, with no conditions attached.

Nothing is published either, unless you publish it yourself. Sharing a bottle is the only way anything here becomes public, it takes a deliberate tap, the screen lists what will be visible before you tap it, and you can stop sharing at any time.

A cellar is shared between two people by design. Your partner can see everything in it, including your ratings and tasting notes — that is the feature, and it is worth knowing before you write something.

Settings → Leaving, at any time, without asking anyone. If your partner is still in the cellar, leaving takes your account and your ratings and leaves the cellar with them. If nobody else is in it, the cellar goes too. Both are immediate, and both are permanent — the privacy policy spells out exactly what goes.

Label scanning, wine details and dinner pairings are suggestions from a language model. They are wrong sometimes — a misread vintage, a confident guess about a producer, a pairing that is merely plausible. Check anything that matters, and do not treat a drink window as advice about whether a bottle is safe to drink.

• Use it for your own cellar, not for someone else's data.
• Do not try to reach another household's wines, or to find out whether an address has an account.
• Do not automate the AI features to run up someone else's bill; there is a daily cap, and going around it is not on.
• Do not upload anything you do not have the right to upload.

An account doing any of that can be closed. That is a judgement call made by a person, and one you can write to hello@ourcave.wine about.

Nothing today. If that ever changes, the cellar you already have stays readable and exportable — paying would only ever buy the parts that cost money to run, and never access to what you already put in.

La Cave is provided as it is, with no warranty. It is one person’s project: it can be down, it can lose a request, and it can have bugs. Keep a copy of anything you would be sad to lose — the export button exists for exactly that, and it takes a second.

To the extent the law allows, Olivier Bouchard is not liable for losses arising from using La Cave, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away.

It might. If La Cave is shut down you will get notice by email with enough time to export your cellar first, and the data will be deleted afterwards rather than sold, transferred or left sitting somewhere.

The date at the bottom moves when the text does. Continuing to use the app after a change means the new version applies; if you would rather not, leaving is one screen away and takes your data with it.
